A Beginner's Guide to Regifting

Tuesday December 23, 2008
Have you ever received a gift that wasn't right for you? We all have. If it's not junk, we tend to hang onto it because we like the person who gave it to us. So it goes into a closet--to be brought out whenever they drop by, until we forget.

Is there a way to pass along the gift in a good way, so you don't have to keep it...and it makes someone else happy? Yes, it's called regifting--and it's not for the faint of heart. Regifting takes boldness, careful planning, and the ability to rationalize.

I started young (4th grade) and my early efforts at regifting were not successful. Since then I've learned a few tips, and I'm happy to share them with you. If you've considered regifting but feel guilty, perhaps some regifting tips can help you get past the guilt and into the joy.
