Starting Your Own Business?
Don’t Forget Self-Employed Health Insurance

Thursday June 4, 2009
Graham from Arizona writes: "I am an accountant and I worked at the same company for 27 years. I lost my job during a downsizing late last year and decided that while I look for another job I'd advertise my services at tax time. I now have a few steady clients and I enjoy being self-employed. What I didn't count on was how hard it can be to find good health insurance when you're self-employed."

Did you know that the fastest growing group of self-employed workers is over age 50? Millions of older adults are self-employed, but many do not have self-employed health insurance coverage. If you are not old enough to qualify for Medicare, it's important to have at least a basic health insurance policy.
