How Trauma Takes a Toll on Senior Health

How healthy you feel in your senior years can be determined by the psychological trauma you experienced during your childhood or young adult years. In my counseling practice I see clearly how different types of trauma--from a car accident to physical abuse--affect people's self-esteem and and their ability to enjoy healthy relationships. Trauma also has an effect on physical health; learn more about the link between trauma and health, and how trauma can make older adults more prone to illness.

There is an area of life that for many of us, is a big unanswered question. When we are in the decades of working hard to support a family and raise kids, we don’t have as much time to deal with big unanswered questions. Philosophy and things having to do with ideas often take a back seat to the necessities of life.
