Medicare and Medicaid Cuts Threaten Nursing Homes Across the US
State and federal funding cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, on top of the recession, promise a difficult future for nursing homes across the US, including widespread staff layoffs and closings.
Last week, Congress approved a plan to cut an estimated $16 billion in nursing home funding over the next 10 years, as reported by the Associate Press.
Now Congress is discussing additional Medicare funding cuts--potentially $32 billion, according to the Coalition to Protect Senior Care--as part of an overall healthcare reform package.

Sharon is so right! Speaking about Medicare cuts: Obamacare will be partly funded by half a trillion dollars cut from Medicare! Just as the baby-boomer population needs medicare, they are trimming it big time. Does that make sense? Not only will seniors’ Medicare benefits be reduced, they will even be subjected to all sorts of controls by the myriads of government erected panels in the obamacare plan – government will control who, what, how, where medical care will be dispensed based on its own ‘definition’ of justifiable medical expenses for this group but not that group of patients. The so-called ‘medical experts’ pushing obamacare, including Obama himself, are alreday openly talking about ‘hard decision’ on whether to perform surgeries on an old and very sick person vs giving him/her something to relieve the pain and let nature take its course! They say the young and healthy have more productive years left so they should be given priority as far as medical attention is concerned.
Medical care is a ’science’ in the new obamacare sphere, it will no longer be a human care thing.
