How to Turn Bath Time Into a Home Spa Experience? Do What the Experts Do

Taking tips from spa professionals who are experts at making guests feel pampered, respected and relaxed, Tannenbaum offers the following tips to help caregivers create a home spa experience while maintaining the bather’s dignity and safety.

Creating a Home Spa? Start with a Soothing Environment

  • Keep all bathing essentials, including soap, shampoo, washcloths, towels, bathrobe and slippers, within easy reach.
  • Keep lighting soft to create a home spa mood. Use candles if you think that’s safe.
  • Play soothing music or nature sounds. Choose something that the bather especially enjoys.
  • Consider using potpourri in the room, or a small amount of essential oil to create a home spa mood and smell nice. Tannenbaum suggests that lavender has a calming effect on many people, but to create a personal home spa experience, use a scent that the bather especially likes.
  • Keep the room warm, free from drafts, and try to eliminate distractions.
