A. Medicare pays for most Medicare Part B outpatient services you get at a hospital or community mental health center under the outpatient prospective payment system. An outpatient service is defined as any service you get in one day (24 hours). This includes services such as:
  • X-rays (radiology)
  • Stitches for a cut
  • An emergency room visit
  • Getting a cast
