What's your favorite form of exercise? The gym? Walking your neighborhood? Playing golf or tennis? Tell us how you stay active, keep fit and have fun with exercise.

I think the best way to exercise is swimming and jogging. They burn fat easily and help the contraction of the heart.

My way

At 84, I have to use a cane when walking outside. So I remembered how I always loved to dance. In my apartment I don't need my cane, so I put on a CD and so far I dance though 2 songs...1 fast (Charleston) and 1 slow...(waltz). Hoping to do the 3rd song to add more time.

2 types of exercise

I spend a lot of time every day sitting in front of the computer. So I find it necessary to walk 20 minutes minimum twice a day, mostly to unwind body and mind after such physical body inertia, and it releases stress that might have accumulated. I also enjoy walking after a meal (big or small) as that helps the digestion. Also, I find it a real plus to stretch, do tai chi and self massage, taking no more than 25 minutes, just after breakfast. This wakes up my energy and motivates me for work. I would be a couch potato if I did not listen to my body's need to move!

I use the exercise room at my condo

Using the exercise room at my condo assoc., I like to walk on the treadmill, exercise bike, the bar (holding it level to my head and bringing it down to my waist, set at 20 lbs.). At home, I touch my toes each day and do some exercises to strengthen my back musckes. These exercises were given to me at therapy when I fell and had collpased vertebrae and fractures. Exercise seems to help my mood also. I am 70.

Mrs

At home, stretching with my cat. Outside, cycling in the mornings while it is still cool, especially passing under trees. Up and the down the local hills, through the working countryside. This morning, I even chased a bus for a plump, wrist-injured lady near the hospital so she could come up in her own time. I think she was about 10 years younger than me (I am 63).
